Final wrap up for Dalriada Festival 2012

Well that's officially it. The final bits of equipment from last months Dalriada Festival have left Glenarm. And what a fantastic few months it has been. We would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who made this years Festival possible, from the staff and volunteers, the sponsors and providers, the technical and logistics team, and most importantly, YOU, the visitors who came along and supported the Festival. It was a massive success and we are already well advanced in organising next years event which will be bigger and better. Make sure you keep checking our website for regular updates and news.

Ronan gears up for Dalriada performance

Last week we were delighted to meet Ronan Keating ahead of his performance on Saturday 14th July.
 
Ronan who took time out to meet with Adrian Morrow, the Estate Manager here at Glenarm Castle, said he was looking forward to the event where he will perform a chart-topping set list featuring a selection of his greatest hits from throughout his career.
 
Ronan will be joined by fellow Irish superstar, Sharon Corr – singer, songwriter, violinist and founding member of family chart-toppers, The Corrs. Sharon, now a successful solo artist and a coach on one of higher viewed talent shows The Voice of Ireland, will be performing tracks from her debut album Dream Of You as well as some of The Corrs’ hits.
 
The P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival in partnership with UTV is a celebration of music, sport and fine food. Visitors on 13th and 14th July, the main events of the Festival, will be treated to shows of strength with the return of the action-packed Highland Games, which this year will see Irish competitors go head-to-head against Scottish strongmen in the Clash of the Celtic Giants.

From Tanzania to Glenarm, the Afrikan Warriors will appear at the Clash of the Celtic Giants on 13th and 14th July, bringing with them their traditional Tanzanian acrobatics combined with pulsating music, good humour and some truly astonishing moves. The Afrikan Warriors are set to blow your mind with their explosive energy and breathtaking routines. From the street theatres of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in Eastern Africa, a group of local boys trained endlessly to refine their art and became the Afrikan Warriors! The name Afrikan Warriors was derived from their ancestral warriors, their great-grandfathers who fought for independence, climbed to the top of Great Mt. Kilimanjaro and planted the Tanzanian Flag in celebration of their freedom. You are surely in for a treat on the 13th and 14th July.

Chopper Pleasure Flights make a welcome return to Glenarm Castle Highland Games

Highland Games Returns to Glenarm Castle

THE grounds of Glenarm Castle Estate are set to quake this July as teams of leading strongmen go head to head in a battle worthy of the legendary Finn McCool.
 
Taking place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th July at Glenarm Castle, County Antrim, the CLASH OF THE CELTIC GIANTS, Highland Games will make a welcome return to Glenarm Castle Estate as part of the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival in partnership with UTV.
 
Glenarm has played host to the world famous Highland Games for 14 years and is promising to put on the toughest challenge yet for teams from Scotland and Ireland who will compete in the grounds of the historic estate.
 
The Clash of the Celtic Giants, Highland Games was launched this week at Glenarm Castle with the UK’s strongest man Glenn Ross throwing down the gauntlet to his Scottish counterparts who will be making the trip across the Irish Sea this summer.
 
Adrian Morrow, Glenarm Castle Estates Managing Director,said, “I can’t wait to see how our own strongmen fair against the mighty Scots. This is a new twist on the traditional Highland Games with teams competing for the title and we hope that visitors will come along and enjoy the spectacle.

Top Band to headline at Festival Finale

We are pleased to announce that top Northern Ireland band, FREEFALL, will headline at the Dalriada Festival FINALE on Saturday 21st July. Freefall are without a doubt the freshest sounding band around with no exceptions. A truly live band, their energetic and polished performances have seen the band become one of the most popular and in demand bands on the scene.
A four piece band, each one of the guys has been playing since their early teens and are all professional musicians with a wealth of experience that is evident to all who hear them perform. With over 40 years experience between them the band know exactly what is required to deliver a memorable show. Their show will be followed by a HUGE Fireworks Display.

Dalriada turns up heat with Tom & Henry Herbert – The Fabulous Baker Brothers

Channel 4’s TV chefs, Tom and Henry Herbert will cook up a storm on the covered courtyards of the beautiful Glenarm Castle on Friday 13th July.
 
Taking place on Friday 13th July and Saturday 14th July, the good food element of the P&O Ferries Dalriada Festival promises to be a feast for all the senses and the brothers will be joined by a line up of award-winning Taste of Ulster Chefs, local producers and artisans, who together will celebrate some of the exceptional produce of the Glens of Antrim and Northern Ireland as a whole.
 
Tom Herbert, one half of the Baker Brothers, said, “We can’t wait to get our hands on some of the foods and flavours that Northern Ireland is so famous for. We are passionate about supporting local producers and we are both really excited about our visit to Glenarm.”
